This Shallot Confit with Red Wine is made here in Madison and is part of the wonderful offerings of Quince & Apple.

Pair this with a plain cracker and a milder cheese to make a great appetizer plate.

In a 1.5 ounce or 6 ounce jar.



Shallot Confit

Quince & Apple is a local husband and wife team who are producers of fine preserves and syrups. Shallot Confit preserves is made at Quince & Apple, along with many other favorites sold in our shop! Together with their small team, they handcraft preserves and syrups without the usual amount of sugar that you usually find. In fact, their focus is on pairing their preserves with cheese, although there are a multitude of different uses for their flavors!

A robust, self-assured preserve with an elegant streak. Additionally, a bold red wine brightens the deep caramels of slow-cooked shallots.

Ingredients: Shallots, red wine, sugar, red wine vinegar, salt, pectin.  This confit can be used as part of a stock with vegetables, too.

Pairing suggestions: Haus Select Cheddar cheese, Ewe Calf to be Kidding cheese, a duck or lamb entree, a sandwich with turkey, apples and a Gruyere cheese, a Malbec wine.
