Hook’s 15-Year Aged Cheddar Cheese

Hook’s 15-Year Aged Cheddar Cheese is the sharpest cheese we have in the shop!

Tony and Julie Hook have been making cheese in Wisconsin for more than 30 years. Starting out as a fairly small operation, the Hooks made primarily Cheddar and Swiss cheeses. Some years later they expanded to Colby, Monterey Jack, and flavored Jacks and eventually they grew to such an extent that they needed to find a larger working space. Many more artisan cheeses and awards later, the Hooks now make cheese from their Mineral Point location in southwestern Wisconsin.

I have friends who live in Wisconsin who are always bringing me aged cheese to tr.y. This time they brought me Hooks 15 year Cheddar. And I have to say it is worth every cent you pay for it. The texture is superb, the flavor is to be savored as it slowly changes on your tongue. Just have a little at a time. Savor the texture and flavor of the tea as it changes while you are eating it.

Very interesting cheese but definitely not for me. I’ve had other long aged cheddars in the past but none have been this funky. It’s definitely an experience but I don’t see myself buying it again because it tastes spoiled. It may have just been my block but fair warning before you buy a ton and regret it, try it first if you can.

Hooks does a fantastic job with their aged cheddar. Just melts in your mouth. Definitely be purchasing again
